There's core shadow and then there's a cast shadow that has, it has an hard and soft edge. There's hard edge and also their soft edge. As you can, as you probably know, hard edge with an edge we talked about the hard edge, meaning right now there's seven different edges, but we're just going to focusing on two for now. That's going to feel - well, close to us feel is more, you know, it think it's going to help draws attention to the front planes less than on the side and the top. Or we did a boxes, which is how, if we have thicker line weight versus thinner line weights. And then we have a line weight, which is a quick momentum and you, you know, either a thick to thin, right. Like, how do you create the hierarchy with you know scale, which that gonna feel the sense of direction to gradations, you know, you have a gradation. And this can be many things hierarchy it can be, can be scale can be perspective. So we, we have, we can do with - we have a highlight. There's there's many elements that can do that. It's like telling you the stories, what the, you know, what's the, you know, what's your, it's like, what's the, the punch line you want it to, you know, get to get to the audience? So, you know, audience engaged to it.

And also shadings can help also create a focal point because ultimately in your drawings you want to have a focal point. So I'm going to mainly going to use our artists' pen, my gel white gel pen, and probably one of these, these pastel, white and then also the marker. That's how you can create volumes and get have a sense of illusion of, of light and all right. So let's start with the, the shading first, because that's important. And, and also at the end show you guys almost surface detail, that creates a sense of hierarchy. I'm going to show you guys do some dissect the form and wedging some of the geometric shapes. I'm going to show you guys how manipulation on the form. So I'm gonna, I'm going to do that and also going to do show you guys which on the, on the, on the outline. I'm actually going to start showing guys, how do I shade cause a lot, you know, this is one of the big question just people has, is how, you know, how do you, how do you shade with the tool that we have. We're going to, I'm going to start off actually not on the list. So in this lesson, we're going to do a couple of things. After this course, you will develop an ability to break down any 3D subject into a 2D structure, and from there, draw with confidence.Īll right. In addition, you will explore sketching in colors using gouache. Charles will demonstrate drawing animal skeletons, marine animals, insects, landscapes, cars, and many more. From there, you will learn to manipulate organic, geometric shapes and add surface details.

Charles will first introduce you to the materials needed for the course and give you basic drawing exercises that will help strengthen your hands’ muscle memory. You will learn to focus on gesture, shape, and structure while drawing various subjects. In this 12-week course, Charles Hu will teach you the core fundamentals of dynamic sketching. This lesson belongs to the course Visual Development: Dynamic Sketching.

Then, Charles will show you how to create textures and patterns while keeping in mind these key elements: gradation, value difference, scale difference, hierarchy, and momentum. You will practice drawing geometric shape combo, interconnection, overlap, and cutaway. In this lesson, instructor Charles Hu will teach you how to manipulate organic, geometric shapes and create surface details.
